Built in the early 1900s this former B&O roundhouse is partially owned by CSX and the Midwest Railway Preservation Society. Following the 2003 partial collapse of the historic roundhouse the society invested $200,000 to repair and shore up the remaining structure. Four refurbished stalls are currently being used for restoring and maintaining vintage locomotives and cars while four additional stalls have been structurally stabilized by Jera Construction providing a foundation for further restoration.
The giant turntable which once served 15 locomotive stalls still operates. Midwest preservationists are seeking funds to complete work on the stabilized section of the roundhouse. They still hope to build a railroad museum and gift shop on the site.
